She found reminding herself from the beginning to run her own race kept her focused and in control. Keeping a mental focus on running the mile she was in is a skill that Rachel worked on practicing in this race and it paid off.
She’s been incorporating glute exercises into her training and used mental queues to visualize different muscle groups recruiting extra power helping her towards her PR.
Even with the success however, Rachel is mindful of what she needs to work on for the next race. Resting for a goal race instead of racing a 5k and running around getting errands done will be more of a priority!
